A Day in the Hospital: Hysteroscopy Surgery Vlog
Our first surgery today was a hysteroscopy. We detected an adhesion at the cervical entrance. Currently, we have a genetically normal and healthy embryo. Before the embryo transfer, during the mock transfer procedure, we noticed resistance while passing the catheter through the cervix. Therefore, we performed a hysteroscopic procedure using gentle fluid pressure to open the adhesions at the entrance of the uterus. Small scratches were made on the uterine wall to enhance local blood flow.
During the second hysteroscopy, we evaluated the uterine cavity and made controlled scratches on the walls. We also examined for signs of endometritis; small red petechial spots were observed on the endometrial surface. The patient will be placed on long-term antibiotic therapy.
This couple are carriers of a single-gene disorder. Their first IVF attempt was unsuccessful, but we currently have chromosomally normal and healthy embryos, which we plan to transfer in the upcoming cycle.
